About Pivot Power

Pivot Power is developing a world-first national network of grid-scale batteries and rapid electric vehicle (EV) charging stations, to support a cost-effective, reliable, low-carbon energy system and assist the rapid adoption of clean transport and cleaner electricity generation.

Pivot Power will install its two first two projects in 2019 and is therefore growing its team to support with the engineering, design, project management, asset management and modelling.

Role Purpose and Description

An unparalleled understanding of electricity markets, the capabilities of battery storage assets and the requirements of electrical vehicle charging stations is at the heart or Pivot Power business. The successful candidate to join as Energy Engineer will play a key role in developing the company’s intelligence across a wide range of technical and commercial topics.

The Energy Engineer will be responsible for conducting technical specifications, equipment procurement processes, complex modelling and research pieces. The role will also involve supporting the engineering team during contract negotiations and engineering review of the sites under construction. Pivot Power being a fast-developing company, the candidate’s work will be diverse and be regularly adapted to the business’s activities.

The candidate will be clearly guided when conducting their work, but they are expected to be able to work autonomously and to continuously challenge the data, analysis and information they are involved in. The candidate is expected to be passionate about energy markets, keen to learn about battery technology and power systems, and motivated to work in a rapidly growing environment.

Desired Profile and Skills

  • Master’s degree in Engineering
  • (ideally with a speciality in energy, power systems, electrical engineering).
  • A few years’ work experience as an engineer in the energy sector required. Previous experience in procurement processes, technical specifications and project implementation would be strongly valued.
  • Chartered Engineer or in the process of becoming a chartered engineer
  • Outstanding analytical and modelling skills
  • Experience of Excel required (Python, Pandas would be an advantage)
  • The role is suitable for a versatile candidate with the ability to learn fast, bring outside expertise, challenge status-quo and think outside the box.
  • Strong organisation skills and a structured approach will be key with the ability to jungle with different tasks in parallel and getting the job done on time.
  • Good communication skills and presentation will be important for representing the company and liaising with other members of the team and third parties to obtain the information required.

  • Enthusiasm for participating in shaping the future of the electricity market, the electricity network and the future of the EV revolution.
