About Pivot Power

Pivot Power is developing a world-first national network of grid-scale batteries and rapid electric vehicle (EV) charging stations, to support a cost-effective, reliable, low-carbon energy system and assist the rapid adoption of clean transport and cleaner electricity generation.

Pivot Power will install its first two projects in 2019 and is therefore growing its team to support with the engineering, design, project management, asset management and modelling.

Role Purpose and Description

An unparalleled understanding of the electricity market, the capabilities of battery storage assets and the requirements of electrical vehicle charging stations is at the heart of Pivot Power business. The successful candidate to join as Energy Analyst will play a key role in developing the company’s intelligence across a wide range of technical and commercial topics.

The Energy Analyst will be responsible for running in-depth analysis, modelling and research pieces. Pivot Power being a fast-developing company, the candidate’s work will be diverse and will regularly adjust to the business priority activities. Topics they are likely to cover include the following: data analysis of the electricity market and electricity ancillary services, modelling of battery operation (both historic and forecast), detailed technical analysis of battery equipment performance, conceptual modelling of the electricity grid, design and implementation of innovative graphical data representation.

The candidate will be clearly guided when conducting their work, but they are expected to be able to work autonomously and to continuously challenge the data, analysis and information they are involved in. The candidate is expected to be passionate about the energy sector, fluent with the technology, to excel at coding and data analysis, as well as motivated to work in a rapidly growing environment.

Desired Profile and Skills

  • Master’s degree in Engineering
  • (ideally with a speciality in energy, power systems or electrical engineering or programming)
  • Outstanding analytical and modelling skills
  • Strong experience in Python, Pandas and Excel required
  • The role is suitable for a versatile candidate with the ability to learn fast, bring outside expertise, challenge status-quo and think outside the box.
  • Strong organisation skills and a structured approach will be key with the ability to juggle different tasks in parallel and getting jobs done on time.
  • Good communication skills and presentation are important for representing the company and liaising with other members of the team, third parties, vendors and suppliers to obtain information required.
  • A passion for a business that has a deep social mission and passion for “doing the right thing”
  • Enthusiasm for participating in shaping the future of the electricity market, the electricity network and the future of the EV revolution.
