Senior Finance Business Partner



Based in:

London (other EDF Renewables locations, Durham and Edinburgh, with regular travel to London also possible)

Reports to:

Pivot Power CEO, working closely with CCO and CTO, and with a solid dotted line into the EDF Renewables Finance Function.

Role purpose:

Pivot Power’s Senior Finance Business Partner will be the finance lead for the business and will oversee all aspects of the financial performance and reporting of the business and work with our shareholder, EDF Renewables, to ensure funding requirements for the business and underlying project portfolio are met.  The candidate will have experience, and a passion for, the energy transition and appreciate the mentality that we all ‘roll our sleeves up’ to get the job done.  This position will be filled by a candidate who is a strong communicator and enjoys being involved in all aspects of the business. Description of specific duties:

  • Embedded within the Pivot Power team with overall responsibility and oversight for the core comprehensive finance areas including financial reporting, funding requirements, tax and risk management
  • Oversight of current external bookkeeping relationship (until the transition onto EDF Renewables’ SAP system)
  • Working closely with the central EDF Renewables finance function to deliver the overall finance support to the business
  • Responsibility for annual budget setting process, liaising with Pivot Power management and EDF Renewables
  • Lead on review of monthly management accounts (currently prepared by external accounting firm) against budget, prepare variance analysis and drive insight into financial performance
  • Support and challenge the business to deliver outstanding performance
  • Oversee year-end financial reporting and tax reconciliations, as well as monthly VAT returns
  • Responsibility for the transition of account coding and processes from start-up mode (i.e. expense focused) to build-out mode (i.e. asset focused)
  • Drive financial and cost management controls of development and construction projects and support preparation of monthly commercial analysis reports
  • Support in the preparation of finance related materials for Board packs
  • If desired by shareholder, support EDF Renewables in relation to potential third-party capital raising for the Pivot Power project portfolio
  • Support on procurement and key vendor vetting, in advance of handover to EDF’s central procurement function
  • Support the business development function with financial modelling for the purpose of evaluating core business related opportunities (i.e. WireCo/offtake proposals and terms)

General skills and background:

  • Ideally a qualified member of an accountancy body or holder of an equivalent qualification with 3 years qualification along with 2+ years post qualification experience
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Solid personal integrity and penchant for good governance
  • Proven experience and track record in senior finance reporting or investment roles within the energy industry, preferably within the renewable energy development market
  • An entrepreneurial mind-set and ‘can-do’ attitude with outstanding organisational and leadership skills
  • Excellent overall communication skills
  • Ruthless time management and prioritisation skills with the ability to identify capability gaps and resource accordingly
  • Experience of transition from Xero to SAP accounting systems is a bonus
